In Austria every year the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation organizes one of the most important festival/competition for computer music and multimedia art. There are the following categories:
.Computer Animation (independent productions from the fields of art, science, etc.)
-Visual Effects (commercial high-end productions from the fields of film, advertising, entertainment, etc.)
-Interactive Art (installations, performance, audience participation, multimedia, telecommunications, etc.)
-World Wide Web (e.g. web sites, MUD´s, MOO´s, online games etc.)
-Digital Music (e.g. computer music, digital artistic sound creations, electronica, performances, soundspace projects, net music, radio works, soundscapes, etc.)

BRIEFS:

A part of the CD Fearless by Solitaire (Rudiger Gleisberg & Elmar Schulte) has been used in the Hollywood Film Blade. The new album by Gleisberg is near to be released.
Dom F. Scab is working on a new composition. The Spanish television channel TV3 (show Hidrogen, devoted to New Instrumental Music) have commissioned him to write the music for a short documentary on the Pedraforca site in Catalonia. This documentary is part of a series devoted to catalonian natural parks.

On April 10, the 6th Alfa-Centauri electronic music festival will be held at Huizen, Holland. Some of the scheduled artists are: Tim Blake, Redshift and Stratosphere. Tim Blake will release his new CD Crystal Island - Tide of the Century just before the festival.
The Japanese innovative music scene is active indeed, and many artists have a great deal of talent. Some of them are supported by Big Fish Audio. The music by Mika Nozawa is an imaginative combination of elements typical of Minimalism and others of a Folk-Celtic air sometimes near to New Age. The music by Fishermen Tittot can be framed within the New Instrumental Melodic Music. The album Decadance by Bizarre TV Program is pure Techno, with the philosophy of exploring new sonic lands. The music by Rika Shinohara can be classified more or less within Pop, but having a marked melodic character. The music by Yuka Murakami, eEYO and Convex Lebel is on a electronic Pop line. Microstar, Miyao Susumu, Kyoto Town Band, Tama, and Lost Candi have a style near to alternative Pop. The music by Bom'Boco joins elements from innovative Pop and Psychedelic Rock. The music by Jun Shimoyama can be described as Experimental Rock.
Vangelis is planning to give some live concerts in Greece, Italy and Spain. He will play music from El Greco. This painter lived in these three countries.
The Tangerine Dream European tour has been cancelled. This decision had to be made due to strong differences with the German tour organizer.
