USA, March 31. NÓIRÍN NÍ RIAIN UPDATE. Nóirín Ní Riain gave a most successful performance in Los Angeles in December called And Wisdom is a Butterfly, an evening of poetry and prose readings and song in which Noírín was joined by Anjelica Huston, Gregory Peck, Gabriel Byrne and Fionnula Flannagan. The evening was to raise funds and awareness for Project Children and Amnesty International. Noírín gave a series of solo concerts in Belgium in February. She performed for over 300 women at one of the largest women's gatherings in Cork, Ireland in celebration of International Women's Day on March 8. On March 9 she presented a workshop on "Sound Women - Women in Song". Further upcoming performances and workshops by Noirin include "Giving Voice: an Archaeology of the Voice", a conference to be held at the Centre for Performance Research in Aberystwyth, Wales from April 3-13; performances at Ithaca, New York from June 28 until July 3, and participation in a conference on Gregorian Chant to be held in the summer in Marseille, France.

USA, March 17. KITARO: NEW ALBUM SOON. Kitaro's brand new album (his first new album of new material since Mandala in 1994) will be called Taiko. It will be released in Europe on 9 June of 1997. Kitaro will be touring in Spain and Portugal in October of this year. His first tour of Europe in 7 years! Also, Domo Records will be re-releasing in 20 Bit Remastered form and mid-price the following titles in May: Tenku, The Light Of The Spirit, Ten Years (Double CD), Kojiki.

USA, March 13. STAR'S END GATHERING X TO FEATURE BIONAUT. Stars End Gathering X on Saturday, March 29, 1997, will feature live electronic space music by Bionaut. Sponsored by the 20-year-old WXPN radio program, Star's End, the concert will be held from 8:00pm-11pm in Houston Hall, in West Philadelphia. For concert information, call 1-800-565-WXPN or 1 (215) 573-3340. Chris Green and Paul Eggleston are Bionaut and have been quite prolific in their five years of live performances. Their appearance at Star's End Gathering X will be their first formal concert. Their new CD Au Naturel consists entirely of excerpts from live gigs. The Saturday, March 22nd broadcast of Star's End will feature Bionaut's music in addition to a live telephone interview with Bionaut in the first hour of the show. Star's End can be heard every Saturday night/Sunday morning from 1am-6am on: 88.5fm WXPN Philadelphia; 88.1fm WXPH Harrisburg; 90.5fm Worton/Baltimore, MD; and 104.9fm Allentown.
