BRIEFS:

Noirin Ni Riain has been invited for the third time to participate in an Irish government exchange between India and Ireland. She is to be featured in the new film which Anjelica Houston is directing and in which Houston also acts. Noirin will appear in the film singing the Magnificat. The scenes featuring Noirin were filmed in Ireland in July.
Mark Isham has composed the soundtrack for the film Blade. Isham says that this is the most complex score that he has ever written. It has a huge electronic vocabulary, an 80 piece orchestra and a choir. Blade is about modern-day vampires. He has started to work on the soundtrack for the Irwin Winkler film At First Sight.

Kitaro performed in China's largest and most prosperous city in the south, Guangzhou, also know to locals as the City of the Flowers. The response to his visit has proven to be overwhelming. So much so that Kitaro added an additional date to his planned visit, selling out two shows on two consecutive nights at Tianhe Stadium in the famous, historic and 2,000 year old cultural city. Kitaro's tour included music from his new release, Gaia.
Third Space, Christopher Franke's first album from the "Babylon 5" television movies, will be released August 11. The second "Babylon 5" movie soundtrack, "In the Beginning", will be released August 25. The third soundtrack from a "Babylon 5" television movie, "The Gathering", will be out in late September.
The label Celestial Music do Brasil (Brazil) is going to re-release Psykya and Infinito by Michel Huygen (Neuronium).
Lovely Music is going to release a CD devoted to the early, pioneering electronic works of Gordon Mumma, some of which were originally released on two Lovely LPs in the early 1980s. The CD is to be entitled Studio Retrospect. It will include: "Music from the Venezia Space Theatre" (1964), "The Dresden Interleaf 13 February 1945" (1965) and "Pontpoint" (1966-1980) from previous Lovely releases, and "Echo-D" (1978), "Retrospect" (1959-1982), and "Epifont" (1984), which have never been released.
On December, Sonic Images will release the soundtrack "Dark Skies" by Michael Hoenig.
In the coming months and years, Steve Roach has planned an ongoing series of special edition releases that will be available almost exclusively through this internet website. The first of these releases is scheduled for September release. Titled Slow Heat, this long form, 74-minute piece is created in the spirit of the limited-edition release TheDream Circle. The second release in the series will be available before the end of the year. Other upcoming releases by Steve Roach: The Ambient Expanse with Roach, Patrick O'Hearn, Vidna Obmana, Stephen Bacchus, Vir Unis; Ascension of Shadows -- Meditations for the Millennium (Steve Roach & Vidna Obmana) (3 CD box set -- 2000 copies limited edition) (Available November 1998); Dreaming now, then - A Retrospective: 1982 To 1997 (Double CD) (Fortuna Records). This collection will clock in at nearly 156 minutes, including over 25 minutes of unreleased material combined with collected pieces from past Fortuna releases; Body Electric (Steve Roach & Vir Unis) (Scheduled for February 1999 release).
