USA, April 30. FESTIVALFINDER CONTEST. From May 1 through June 15, the FestivalFinder web site presents its "Win a Summer Festival Spree" contest, sponsored by American Airlines, Canadian Airlines and TravelWeb. Winners will spend summer weekends jet-setting around North America with a pal, dropping in on festivals of their choice, and catching performances by favorite musicians. The FestivalFinder web site is a comprehensive, up-to-date guide to all genres of North American music festivals.

Spain, April 24. PSYKYA RELEASED. Psykya, the new album by Michel Huygen, has just been released. It consists in two suites lasting half an hour each, plus a seven minute theme. This is the twenty-fifth work by the artist. In this occasion the cover and the entire graphic design have been made by Huygen himself.

USA, April 17. STAR'S END GATHERING XI TO FEATURE PURE GAMMA. Star's End Gathering XI on Friday, May 2nd, 1997, will feature live electronic space music by Pure Gamma. Opening for Pure Gamma will be Chapman Stick player Paul Mimlitsch. Sponsored by the 21-year-old radio program, Star's End, the concert will be held from 8:00pm-11:00pm in Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce Street on the University of Penn campus in West Philadelphia. Jeff Koepper and Kelvin Russell are Pure Gamma and perform regularly around their home-base of Baltimore, MD. They have released a four track 12" on Defective Records and contributed music to three anthology CDs: Electronic Music Project, Ambient Ceremonie and Defective Soundscapes. The Saturday, April 26th broadcast of Star's End will feature music by Pure Gamma throughout the show. Star's End can be heard every Saturday night/Sunday morning from 1:00am-6:00am on: 88.5 fm WXPN Philadelphia, 88.1 fm Harrisburg, 90.5 fm Worton/Baltimore, MD and 104.9 fm Allentown.

Spain, April 4. PSYKYA RELEASE, SOON. Psykya, the new album by Neuronium, will be released by late April all over the world by the label Tuxedo Music. This is album #25 of the band whose leader and only member, since many years ago, is Michel Huygen. This work consists in three suites with a total running time of 70 minutes. For the first time ever, the cover is a computer design created by Huygen himself. Sources near to the artist point out that this album marks the beginning of a new stage for Neuronium.

Spain, April 4. AIR ON EARTH BY SANTI PICÓ. Santi Picó is finishing, with Michel Huygen's collaboration, the mixes for his album called Air on Earth. This is a selection of his best pieces gathered in a double CD, remixed and updated at Picó's studio, and mastered at the digital studio of Oniria International. The album includes a previously unreleased theme.

UK, April 4. DEREK WADSWORTH. TV series Seven Wonders of the World, with a soundstrack by Derek Wadsworth (composer of the famous music for Space 1999 TV series second season, among other innovative scores), is on the air from March 19 to April 30, on Wednesdays at 7pm, on BBC2. This science series, has each episode devoted to the matters that best inspire and excite some scientists. They are: Arthur C. Clarke, Aubrey Manning, Monica Grady, Thomas Eisner, Richard Dawkins, Allison Jolly and Steven Pinker.

USA, April 4. GRAMMY AWARDS. Pete by Pete Seeger and Friends, won the Grammy Award as Best Traditional Folk Album of 1996. Produced by Paul Winter, the album was released in April 1996 and is Seeger's first studio album in seventeen years. The Memory Of Trees by Enya won the Grammy Award as Best New Age Album of 1996. Santiago by The Chieftains won the Grammy Award as Best World Music Album of 1996.

Germany, April 4. NEW RELEASES BY GRASSOW. Mathias Grassow's new CDs are: Namakar (Amplexus, Italy), Lanzarote Spirits (title not definitive) (No-Cd Rekords, Spain), Arcanmum (with Rudiger Gleisberg and Amir Baghiri) (Monolith), and the sampler Lektronic Soundscapes by several artists. The musician also works on a project with Klaus Wiese.

USA, April 4. PAUL WINTER'S LATEST ACTIVITIES. During 1996, Paul Winter did most of the composing and recording for his new album. His touring schedule has taken him to Mexico and Croatia, as well as to many cities in North America. He has also won several prestigious awards, including the Music Advocate Of The Year Award from The Connecticut Music Educators' Association; The Alumni Merit Award from Northwestern University; The Promise To The Earth Award from The National Arbor Day Foundation; Honorary Doctor Of Humane Letters from Juniata College, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; The Gold Medal Award from Penn State University, and The Governor's Distinguished Arts Award from the State of Pennsylvania.

USA, April 4. NEW RELEASES BY CHRIS FRANKE. The latest released albums by Christopher Franke are: Perry Rhodan Pax Terra and Babylon 5 Vol. 2, Messages From Earth. Babylon 5 Vol. 2 is the new soundtrack from the recent two seasons of Babylon 5 science fiction TV series. Franke just finished the score for Inheritance. This adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott (Little Women) story was directed by Bobby Ross and will air on CBS, April 6.
