EDITORIAL INFORMATION

Astronomy has been introduced from a scientific point of view, pinpointing its relationship with different subjects. The development of this subject intends to supply the students with a wide vision of Astronomy, as an area of scientific knowledge of Humanity, as a possible professional activity, as a cultural heritage with multifold readings and relationships with other branches of knowledge, and finally, as a hobby that can provide moments of pleasure both in the aesthetic and in the intellectual sense.

OUR REVIEW

This brief didactic guide can be used as a teacher's book during the course provided by Taller de Astronomía, the most recent initiative, if not the only one, to introduce Astronomy in the secondary schools in Spain. It provides the teachers with everything they need to confront the novel task of making what at first sight may appear to be a complex, risky subject, pleasant for their pupils. The contributions made by the authors, however, prove the fact that astronomy is perfectly suitable for the classroom outside University, and that it can be a good stimulus toward the interest in science.

Since the current schoolyear textbook gives a lot of importance to the practice and the discussion of the different issues with the students, this guide provides the professor with suitable references to do that, as well as a bibliography, contact addresses, solutions to the exercises, etc.
