VANGELIS

"SPIRAL"

RCA / BMG Music / BMG Records / BMG Ariola

By the mid seventies, Vangelis was reaching the height of his musical virtuosity. One after another, his works would become productions to be remembered for a long time. When the labels New Age or World Music didn't even exist, the Greek magician broke with the tradition in contemporary music. In Spiral, for instance, he explored the land of sequencers (Spiral, Dervish D, 3+3), but he also researched that of impressive melodies (To the Unknown Man). Nothing in this already old record goes to waste. His music, in some occasions, under the anonymity of its author, would be played in all possible media (radio, TV...), which shows that electronic music does not have to be cold despite its uncertain, esoteric origin, and it would make Vangelis really famous, so much so that since then has been the undisputedly popular king of synthesizers. Here we have a recording, in short, that continues to be sold nowadays, and one that no aficionado to these kinds of music should miss in their collection.
