KOJI ASANO

"MOMENTUM"

Solstice

By using two microphones sited within two loudspeakers, and working with air pressure and repeated amplification of sound, specially of the grave pitches, Koji Asano has created a peculiar, surprising work of experimentation with sound. Skilfully directing the electroacoustic phenomena that such a paraphernalia prepared by the artist develops, he succeeds in creating three pieces that, although possessing a similar structure, explore different fields. The first one is clearly dominated by rhythm, in the shape of pulsating noises. The second could be described as a long symphony where rhythmic noises are combined with others that evoke abstract melodies. The third one presents the aspect of an instrumental solo with ephemeral noises alternating with silences.
