RUDIGER GLEISBERG

"ELYSIUM"

Prudence / BSC Music

Listening to the music Rudiger Gleisberg has composed for this album, it is obvious that the true evolution of Classical Music does not lead to Experimental Chamber Music, but rather to such forms as those being developed by Gleisberg since some years ago, and which often are labelled within the New Instrumental Music. Gleisberg, who has a classical education, is intelligent and unprejudiced enough to channel his creativity through the means offered by the new technologies, and thus he has been able to explore Ambient, the most symphonic trends of Space Music of the Berlin School, and Romantic Classicism, so as to finally complete a sublime fussion among all these cultural heritages. The thirteen themes in this CD possess an impressive emotional strength , which flows between the enigmatic and the emotional. The music is perceived as wholly genuine, natural, with no manipulative elements whatsoever that might tend to have disparate elements fit together. In these moments, Gleisberg is, among the European composers who have been using synthesizers longest, one of the few who compose with a greater loyalty to their personal ideas , not allowing for any influence from commercial fads to make him stray from his chosen path. In all, "Elysium" is a symphony deserving maximum admiration, and one which constitutes a perfect example of artistic inspiration as well as technical mastery.
