EDWARD ARTEMYEV

"ODYSSEY"

Hallmark Entertainment Inc. / Electroshock Records

The soundtrack of the film Odyssey (directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, based on The Odyssey by Homer) is released in this CD that includes 24 pieces, with a total running time of 72 minutes. All the compositions are a clear sample of the talent of this legendary composer. From the precise instant of the beginning of the album, we witness a display of creative energy of a high degree. None of the themes included in the CD goes to waste. In this work we can listen to Edward Artemyev in his most symphonic aspects. However, there also are dark, mysterious pieces. Some of the melodies posses a certain cosmic character, others present a romantic character, many of them turn out to be epic, majestic, and others approach World Music. There are slow compositions, where the melody and the atmospheric environments predominate. Others have upbeat rhythms. The rhythms are based on classical percussion mostly. The record has been produced by Artemiy Artemyev and Vladimir Krupnitsky. The music is performed with synthesizers and classical orchestra (the London Symphony Orchestra).
