LAURIE Z.

"LIFE BETWEEN THE LINES"

Zebra Productions

This is the second self-produced album by Laurie Z (it appeared in 1995). We find here an already mature work which not only combines electronic instruments but also viola, sax, guitar and drums. Her style is now perhaps a little more progressive. The sound palette, as we just said, has expanded, and the 12 pieces are more diverse than ever. Tom Tally (viola), Per Kjeller (guitars), Jeff Falcone (drums), John Meadows (fretless bass), Jef Hogan (bass) and Alan Palmer (tenor sax), make a good contribution to the music. The style is a very beautiful blend of new age and classical influences. Only one theme has vocals (Guy Tanner): "A Delicate Balance", which is probably one of the best songs. The CD was named New Age Album of the Year by Scott Brodie, CHRW 94.7 FM, Ontario, Canada.
