JACOB DURINGER

"THE DURINGER EXPEDITIONS VOLUME 2"

Heavenbound Systems Engineering Group

Jacob Duringer is a composer, electronics engineer and inventor of the Monolith, an amazing two-dimensional keyboard. The Monolith keyboard expands individual musical performance into two dimensions. Only one parameter, pitch, is allowed spontaneous variability in the piano keyboard. The Monolith allow two spontaneous variable parameters: pitch and timbre. The performance of the Monolith on this album (composed by Duringer) is played live by skill alone with absolutely no use of programming, layering, multi-tracking, sequencing of sounds or any other artificial assistance. Every note that is played is the result of simultaneous manual fingering on this large keyboard. Duringer, who in this album plays the Monolith, is accompanied by Trint Roberts (electric guitar) and Irena Sanchez (drums / bass pedals).Three parts constitute this interesting compact disc. Each one of them is formed by several themes. The first part, "Music from the 19th Century" (Monolith solo), is within Classical Music, although with certain, very innovative, and very personal elements of the artist. The second part, "Music from the 20th Century", is electronic music with traits from Rock, Jazz and Classical. The third part, "Music from the 21st Century" can be placed within electronic experimental music, with some characteristics of Space and Ambient. The sonic complexity that the artist achieves with his Monolith is remarkable indeed. From his hand, the Monolith appears as an orchestra.
