MICHAEL THOMAS BERKLEY

"IMAGES FROM EARTH"

Numinous Records

This is the first album that Michael Thomas Berkley releases. Given his clear artistic maturity, it is surprising that we have had no chance to enjoy his music before. Like the title suggests, the topic that has inspired the artist to compose this music is our planet. He has created an impressive soundtrack to the story of Earth. The artist develops daring, imaginative ideas in this compact, preferably aimed at Ambient / New Instrumental Music. There are some passages near to Pop and others of a symphonic character, the melody being always the protagonist. The music is bright, full of energy. Some of the compositions are mysterious, with dark melodies enhanced by the synthesizers. Others incorporate elements of World Music. Some pieces include voice. Berkley plays synthesizers, samplers, piano, zimbabwean, ngoma, mbira, percussion, vocals, drum programming, treatments, sound designs and effects. With him have collaborated Mike Freitas (cymbals, conga, dumbeck, triangle, clay drums, shakers and assorted other percussion), Ari Langer (electric violin), Jennifer MacKnight (vocals), Karen Bentley (violin), Linton Hale (North Indian flute), Glenn Schoonmaker (electric guitar). Michael Thomas Berkley deserves to be taken into account and paid attention to from now on.
