TERRY OLDFIELD

"SPIRIT OF INDIA"

New World Music

The most common musical structure in the five themes of this album by Terry Oldfield consists of a percusssive / sequenced rhythm in a style near to the Indian, Asian and African mystic dances. There also are static passages, with a strong presence of a soloist flute. The melodies usually are warm, emotive, in an atmosphere typical of a soundtrack for an adventure movie. The voices that appear in quite of the passages are treated with echoing effects, turning them ethereal, almost unearthly.
