DUNCAN CHISHOLM

"REDPOINT"

Blue Moon / Europa CB

The new album by Duncan Chisholm, the violinist of the Scottish band Wolfstone, means a new step in his solo career. Unlike his previous work, much more traditional in the arrangements, we are before an album rich in sound textures. To do that, he has surrounded himself with good friends like Phil Cunningham on the piano, keyboards, whistle, accordian and harmonica, his companions Ivan Drever and Stuart Eaglesham on the acoustic guitars, Andy Thorburn on the piano, and Graham Willoughby on the percussion. Duncan, who plays the fiddle, gives his particular vision to a series of nine themes either traditional or composed by Drever, Cunningham and others. From his instrument the notes of "The Congress" sprout with energy, or the boundless emotion of "Lady Ramsay" can be heard in all its intensity as well. No doubt we are before an album with true Celtic music which will delight not only the followers of the innovative band Wolfstone, but also those who wish to enter this style for the first time, the perfect mix between tradition and modernity.
