MARCATOR

"BEYOND THE MIRRORS"

Prudence / BCS

In this work of New Instrumental Music, Marcator approaches the classical trends, World Music and Ambient. Quite a lot of the pieces are romantic, in a mood more dramatic than merry, which prevents them from becoming too sweetish, and on the other hand allows for a greater impact. Other pieces ressemble soundtracks for adventure movies. The rhythm is very present throughout the thirteen themes included in the compact; some are quite fast, and others are slower. On the whole, this album has a great emotional load. The use of electronic instruments is remarkable, yet there also appear some acoustic ones. Mention must be made of the soloist intervention of a very singular electronic instrument: the Theremin (o Termenvox). This is an electronic instrument developed by Russian inventor Lev Termen (Leon Theremin) in the twenties, that has an aureola of mystery and admiration.
