JOANNE SHENANDOAH

"LIFE BLOOD"

Silver Wave Records

Joanne Shenandoah is probably one of the best regarded singers in the Native American scene. In Life Blood she offers us a selection of ancient melodies belonging to the cultural heritage of her noble people, the Iroquois. With Joanne collaborates prestigious pianist Peter Kater, whom he met some years ago, during the composition of a soundtrack for an episode of the documentary series of the Discovery Channel called How the West was Lost. This episode was devoted to the Iroquois tribes, and Joanne had been invited to participate in it as a performer for some traditional songs. The collaboration between Kater and Shenandoah, giving a new shape to this ancient material, propitiated the subsequent making of Life Blood, where we find a true song to nature and to evrything that produces life. Joanne's crystaline voice, accompanied by Kater's contemporary instrumentation, is the high point of a work that will awake the enthusiasm of the followers of the best World Music.
