With Slim we certainly don't have a conventional musical project. Like in all the releases of the label Emit, in Slim0097 an astounding and at the same time attractive production is presented to us. The female voice of the singer performs a succession of pop themes influenced by all sorts of sounds, most particularly jazz, jungle, reggae, dub and funk, which however make quick raids into darker, even more dramatic regions. If the soft vocal texture of Slim attracts our attention, no less do the musical pitches accompanying it. Throughout the seven long pieces included in the album we will have a chance to attend all kinds of passages, from those fragments that invite us to dance to those others that are far more introspective and whose melodies transpire an originality that cannot be denied.
