CHEMA RIVAS

"MUSIC FOR THE 21ST CENTURY"

Vihuela Discos

Chema Rivas, a versatile musician from Spain having a wide experience who has contributed a lot to the classical and even pop/rock terrains, in this album makes an authentic work of fusion of different styles. Music for the 21st Century, these are 21 pieces composed by himself (except for one, prepared by his friend and collaborator Juan José Espinosa), where we can find his multiple roots. Rivas plays the guitars, percussions, piano and spinet, keybords and synthesizers, and even the Arab lute. The album, the fruit of 18 months of hard work, represents a clear attempt on the part of Chema Rivas to avoid making something that could serve to label the rest of the record. Thus, among the material he offers us we will find themes where jazz, classical and baroque influences are intertwined with others from the renaissance, ethnic, symphonic, pop, new age, and a long et cetera. With the title of his album and the music it contains, the author states that the next century will contemplate a great stylistic diversity, with the musicians entering many of the styles in a simultaneous way or fusing them for their own creative glory. The magnificient album by Rivas, in this sense, shows us a new, original path that will probably be followed by many other artists in the future.
