EXOVEDATE

"GREATEST HITS"

Exovedate

David Neelin and Simon Wilcox are Exovedate. In the second work by this Canadian band we find some novelties with respect to the previous one: changes in the members and a music that, according to their own words, "has flourished". Since we have not heard what they have done previously, we cannot say for sure, yet we can certainly say that, in their current configuration, Exovedate show a convincing way to make music for our days, adapted to the actual times. Simon, for instance, sings, plays the percussion and some synthesizers, as well as the drum machines. David, on the other hand, accompanies her with the same (except for the vocals) and also is in charge of the theremin, other electronic devices and production in general. The result of their efforts is clearly avantgarde: a total of 14 tracks with a wide melodic and experimental diversity appropriate for those who want to escape from conventionalisms. The cosmic cover of their CD, an image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, does not however imply that the music it contains is in any way related to the space music variety of electronic music. Exovedate, in actual fact, make a dark music, sometimes shocking, some other times of a more classical hue, yet alvays percussive and with experimental intentions. Most remarkable are the vocals by Simon Wilcox, perhaps the most noteworthy trait of the musical style of the band.
