"COLOURS"

Spheric Music

Colours is a good introduction to the works usually released by the label Spheric Music. Located in Essen, Germany, this label is devoted to instrumental, mainly electronic music. SM was officially founded by Lambert Ringlage in 1991. From 1993 onwards other electronic musicians joined. For this special CD, each SM artist/group has contributed a previously unreleased track. So we can find nine themes by also nine different artists/groups: their names are Norman Friedenberger, Driftin' Thoughts, Apeiron, Jiannis, Lambert, Stephen Parsick, Trialog, Tranquility and Palantir. The pieces are very diverse. Influences? The early Tangerine Dream/Klaus Schulze are clearly here but there are also traces from the 1980s and the 1990s, and a great variety of new and old synthesizers. The booklet contains brief biographies for each artist and also contact addresses and other interesting info about the label. Certainly, a very enjoyable album for people looking for good modern electronic music. The cover says it all: a Compilation of Electronic Soundscapes.
