PATRICK MIMRAN

"ROMA"

Seventh Wave

Patrick Mimran is a certainly versatile artist. As a musician and composer, Roma is his first work, and judging from what can be heard in it, his career appears to be really promising. His style is very orchestral and dark, yet always using synthesized instruments and computer generated sounds. Mimran himself, in his engineering skills, has created some of the machines he uses in the album, among which the Le Bart system is particularly noteworthy, being wholly programmable and based on a Hewlett-Packard computer. The album proper is built around a main theme ("Roma"), inspired in the Piazza del Popolo in Rome and intended for a work by Peter Greenaway, and it also has another ten compositions which stem from Mimram's dreams and nightmares. In all that we find a symphonic artist who has a great skill in the musical technique as well as the necessary technology, an artist we should keep track of as he displays new aspects of his personal creations for the audience.
