GARY STROUTSOS

"WINDS OF HONOR"

Makoché Music / BMI

The second album by Gary Stroutsos, an experienced musicologist and also a composer, clearly states the marvels that the fusion of cultures can come to produce. Stroutsos, of an Italian-Greek origin, a performer specialized in the classical flute and jazz, is very interested in the music of the Native Americans. In Winds of Honor, the artist has drawn his inspiration from the culture of several tribes, shaping with this fact several compositions of his own which have a remarkable quality. In the album a couple of traditional Native American themes are likewise included. Thus, the multiple influences of Stroutsos come together to shape an excellent album in which the modern Native American flute has a leading role. Listening to the notes produced by this instrument, often cushioned by other more current ones, like the synthesizer, one cannot help but feeling peace and calm. Gary Stroutsos, accompanied by several friends in the release of this album, has no doubt taken a step forward in his search for "something else".
