CHRISTIAN ALVAD

"ARCTIC NOMADS"

Fønix Musik

To compose the music in this album, Christian Alvad was inspired by the landscapes and the peoples from the Arctic. Using electric and acoustic guitars, piano and samplers, plus the collaboration as performers of Steen Rahauge and Poul Erik Jorgensen, the artist offers a collection of themes in different styles. Most of them have a style near to jazz, with Latin influences. This is the case of such pieces as for instance "Mountain Crest". Others are ethereal, and can be labelled within Ambient, with classical symphonic elements. The most impressive piece in the album is, in my opinion, "Sirens of Herald Island", of a mysterious air and a great beauty. "The Night" is ethereal, cosmic. Some others enter within avantgarde Pop, like for instance "Moose Walk". There also are some pieces of a clear romantic flair, such as "Duke of Abruzzi (Interlude)".
