"LA DISCOTECA CD COMPACT: EL SIGLO XX"

Hi-Tech Ediciones

This guide, with 206 pages, written in Spanish, gathers, in the form of files, a quite large selection of the CDs that have been released with music by classical composers of the twentieth century. Each discographic reference consists in the data referred to its release, as well as a brief yet useful comment describing the music or the circumstances related to it. As is widely known, Classical Music has experienced during this century several transformations that have given rise to alternative trends, these being in truth rather divergent from Classical Music itself, yet, given their similarity to the paths for their difusion, they have been labelled under its same name. Anyway, this book turns out to be interesting not only for the people who love Classical Music, but also for the followers of alternative musics, and most particularly those of Contemporary (New) Music. This is so because several composers of this style have likewise been included, since they, being avantgarde as they are, have developed a greater part of their careers within the scholarly sector with links to the Classical Music. Also, another interesting trait is the fact that this guide does not establish barriers among musical currents, since this fact allows us to have a better panoramic vision on the evolution of Classical Music in the twentieth century, at the same time explaining who its most noteworthy composers are or have been, both in the most conservative vein and in the most innovative paths.
