GÓRECKI

"MISERERE"

Elektra Entertainment / Warner Communications

This album gathers several works of choir music by the Polish composer Henryk Górecki. The style is within Classical Music, although with certain, very innovative, and very personal elements of the artist. The religious connotations of the music are clear, both because of the titles of the pieces and their stylistic similarity to the Catholic liturgical choir music. These are the works included in this compact disc: "Miserere", which gives its title to it, composed by Górecki in 1981 as a homage to the - in that time - clandestine trade union Solidarity, "Amen", "Euntes Ibant et Flebant", "Wislo Moja, Wislo Szara", and "Szeroka Woda".
