STEFFEN SCHLEIERMACHER

"SOVIET AVANT-GARDE"

Hat Hut Records

Steffen Schleiermacher plays on the piano a selection of pieces composed by avant-garde composers from a symphonic environment, who lived and worked in the ex - Soviet Union during the Communist era. The artists gathered here are: Sergei Protopopov (1893-1954), Alexander Mossolov (1899-1973), Arthur Lourié (1893-1966) and Nikolai Roslavetz (1881-1944). The works here selected were composed by them before 1930. These composers had in common their interest to explore new possibilities for musical expression, which oriented them towards experimentation with the elements they had then available to them.
