LATEST ACTIVITIES BY MICHEL HUYGEN / NEURONIUM

Spain, December 27.

Alma, a compilatory album by Neuronium that was originally released in 1987 to celebrate the ten first years of the recording career of this band, has now been re-released, coinciding with the twenty years that have passed since the release of the first record by this band. It is not a mere re-release, but the recording has been remixed and digitally remastered at 20 bits with a special treatment to eliminate noise. Huygen has incorporated besides new sounds and reverberations. The result, in Huygen's words, is "more crystalline". Furthermore, this CD includes as well a CD-ROM track for a Mac or PowerMac computer, which contains new pictures by Tomás Gilsanz (the author of many of Neuronium album covers), in a montage with movement. This video lasts for almost ten minutes.

By mid December, Huygen has finished with the last mixes of the new album by Neuronium, whose title will be Psykya. It will also include a CD-ROM track. It will possibly be released by late January or early February. It is formed by two long pieces of half an hour each, titled "Geomagnética" and "Neuromagnética", in a cosmic line, and in which Huygen, as he himself has told us, has tried to transmit the sensation that confronting the vastness of the cosmos produces. He also uses sophisticated sequencer rhytms in a passage.

Huygen is now working on an international version of Astralia which will include a CD-ROM track containing some videoclips specially filmed for this album, as well as the paintings by Tomás Gilsanz. The composer continues to work in his painstaking project to record an album with the London Symphony Orchestra (Classical Neuronium). Up to now, of the total amount of fourteen themes that will be included in this release, there already are seven arranged with scores for each one of the more than a hundred musicians that are part of this orchestra.

Through the new web of Oniria International, it will be possible in the near future that each person who wishes so, can order the preparation of a CD containing the specific pieces by Michel Huygen they want to have together in an album. Also, through this web, compact discs with previously unreleased music by Huygen will be commercialized, in collector editions, and at the same cost as a normal album.

Michel Huygen, Christopher Franke, Mark Shreeve and other musicians participate with previously unreleased themes in the sampler Charity. For the cover, painter Tomás Gilsanz has donated one of his paintings. The funds obtained with the sales of this album will be aimed at charity purposes (to help poor children and for medical research against osteoporosis). This album is specially supported by the BBC.
