OSCAR CASTRO-NEVES

"OSCAR!"

Living Music

In the early sixties guitarist and pianist Oscar Castro-Neves was at the core of the rising Bossa Nova style. He has also composed some soundtracks for such films as "Gabriela" and "Blame it on Rio". In this album, he offers us a careful selection of 12 themes in which he presents us the best of himself as an artist. Most of the pieces are composed by him, but there also are some pieces by other authors or anonymous ones. For the occasion, Oscar has been accompanied by some members of the Paul Winter Consort, with such people as Paul Winter at the saxo, Eugene Friesen at the cello, Paul Halley at the organ or Russ Landau at the bass. The album was recorded in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City.
