Previous Page (Galleries)Diane Boothby and John Boegehold, the founding members and songwriting team of Orphan Moon met in the early 90's. Both play mandolin, guitar and keyboards, and though both are experienced musicians and songwriters, neither has ever played in a cover band or written music that could be even remotely described as mainstream. After writing several songs together, three other players were enlisted to form the art-rock band Map of Shadows. Into their second year of recording and playing around Los Angeles, their ever-evolving writing style made it apparent that an even more eclectic approach was called for. With some conceptual fine-tuning, a few lineup changes and a new name, the band settled into its unique style.
